- For most functions found on this site, there is not any need to set up a password-protected account. You will only need to set up an account if you would like to register any gift cards, gift certificates or other time-sensitive items in "My Gift Cards," enabling you to receive email reminders before an item is about to expire, incur a dormancy fee, or simply to prompt you to utilize the item for a particular reason. This will also allow you to utilize the "Gift Card Guard Loss & Theft Notification Service," in the event one of your registered items is lost, damaged or stolen. Other functions requiring an account are "My Gift Cards Wish List," (sending email "wishes" to any number of your friends and relatives in advance of a birthday, holiday or special event), email alerts from the "Retail Radar Screen" (notification of possible adverse events or conditions for a retailer you have gift cards for), email alerts from "State Laws" (in the event the laws pertaining to gift cards change in the state/province you registered under), and certain promotions or contests we may periodically offer.
- We will never ask for your personal information, either when you register for a My Gift Cards account, or in any email communication to you. This includes a driver's license number or Social Security number. Should you ever receive any email (purportedly to be from GiftCardTracker.com) requesting this information, do not respond to it. - We will never ask for any of your personal financial information, either when you register for a My Gift Cards account, or in any email communication to you. This information includes bank account information or credit card information. Should you ever receive any email (purportedly to be from GiftCardTracker.com) requesting this information, do not respond to it. Instead, please forward it to: ScamAlert@GiftCardTracker.com
- We will never contact you, either through email, telephone or through postal mail, to request your My Gift Cards account password. We urge you not to provide this information to anyone you can not trust. Should you ever receive any email (purportedly to be from GiftCardTracker.com) requesting this information, do not respond to it. Instead, please forward it to: ScamAlert@GiftCardTracker.com
- We want you to feel secure about utilizing the My Gift Cards function of the web-site to its fullest capability --- which includes noting the physical location of your Gift Cards and Gift Certificates (to assist you in remembering where you stashed them) --- so do not even ask you for your physical street address when registering your account. You are only required to select the U.S. State or Canadian Province of your residence.
- While we promote the online purchase of Gift Cards, Gift Certificates, and Online Gift Certificates, we do not sell any of these items directly from this site. You may link on most or all of the retailers in our data-base, many of which offer for online purchase their Gift Cards or Gift Certificates. Please note any transaction you may undertake is between you (the Purchaser) and them (the Seller). GiftCardTracker.com is not involved in this purchase transaction and does not have any access to the purchase information (including method of payment, account numbers, and shipping addresses) you may supply to them. Any problems you experience in the purchase or shipping transaction is between the Purchaser and the Seller. When making any online purchase, whether resulting from a link from GiftCardTracker.com or on any e-commerce site, we urge you to practice appropriate safeguards.
- You will not receive any email SPAM from GiftCardTracker.com or as a result of registering a My Gift Cards account. As a condition of entering any information in a My Gift Cards account, you must agree to selecting at least one email reminder date for each year (defined as within 364 days of registering an item). Should you enter a Gift Card or Gift Certificate from our data-base of retailers, you may receive an advertisement or promotional message from the selected retailer or a competitor retailer which will accompany:
- A Confirmation email of your registration.
- The email reminder or reminders you select throughout the year.
- The retailer attaching this message does not have any access to your email address: they are only able to access your reminder date and geographic (U.S. State or Canadian Province) locator information.
- Other email communications you will receive from GiftCardTracker.com include the following:
- A confirmation of any email communications you submit to GiftCardTracker.com (see our Contact Us page).
- An email alert of any changes in laws governing Gift Cards and Gift Certificates either enacted or being considered in your state of residence (determined when selecting your residence when registering an account in My Gift Cards)
- An email alert through our Retail Radar Screen for any Gift Card or Gift Certificate registered in My Gift Cards. Alerts will be sent to users who, when registering their Gift Card or Gift Certificate, selected the retailer from our pre-formed list of retailers.
- An annual reminder to select new email reminder dates for any Gift Cards or Gift Certificates which have been in your My Gift Cards account for longer than a year.
- While we do not collect any personally-identifiable information about our site's users, we do encourage all users to be age 13 or older. One of the goals of the site is to help our users become more organized with their financial assets --- and Gift Cards and Gift Certificates with value should be considered a financial asset --- so it is never too early to begin educating individuals on making sound financial decisions. However, we encourage all users under age 13 to seek the permission and oversight of their parent or guardian before registering an account in My Gift Cards. When participating in any of our promotional contests or any function requiring a User Name, we require each individual to certify they are age 13 or older at the time of participation. Our site does not facilitate any online sharing of comments or information between one user and another: any sharing or communication is only between the user and our site administrator. Only User Names (without email address) will be posted on our site.
